I am a professional photographer and graphic designer based in Dorset who undertakes work throughout the UK; combining photography with copy writing and design to produce sales literature, publicity, web sites and display items.

This has been made possible by the dramatic advances in digital photography and the reprographics industry over the last ten years which have led to an overlap of the various disciplines with real cost benefits and speed of delivery to the consumer.

Typically I will take a series of photographs and turn them into a leaflet or brochure, add them to a web site and produce a press release.

I still enjoy photographing people and events such as weddings, theatrical performances and fashion shows but now I can use the various graphics packages to enhance and add to the images. A photograph of the proverbial black cat in the coal hole is now routine!

Digital Photography

I had been using digital cameras from Canon and Nikon for two years before finally discarding film in 2000.

This was made possible by the advent of the Nikon D1 then the D1X digital camera which will, with care, cope with an A3 magazine spread. This means that in quality terms there is now little difference between a digital image and film (all things being equal). There have been dramatic benefits from using a digital system, including the variable speed of the material, instant processing capability, convenience, decrease in running cost and ease of experimentation.

By far the most important factor has been that the whole creative process is back in the hands of the photographer, including processing of the finished product to hard copy or computer image.

Add this to the revolution that has swept the the print industry and it means that I can create sales literature from scratch through to supplying the finished computer file to the printer.

Computer Software

I operate a service that is a seamless, one stop shop with the assistance of Adobe's Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, After Effects and InDesign with Macromedia's Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand and Flash FX.
